Even Helping with Small Tasks is a Huge Help
Getting mail is fun when a birthday greeting arrives.
These are simple pleasures that, for some, do not last. Something as simple as opening an envelope becomes a chore if your hands do not work as well as they once did. That is when Catholic Charities steps in.
“No task is too small,” said Melody Weeks, program supervisor in San Joaquin County. “We help seniors with their daily living. Our goal is to help them to live independently for as long as possible.”
With help from Kaiser Permanente, Catholic Charities provides in-home support services to 125 seniors in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties through its Services for Seniors and Caregivers Program. Many speak little or no English and are geographically isolated.
