Funding Life-Saving Technology in our Community
Playing softball one Tuesday evening Donald suddenly slid towards first-base, face down in cardiac arrest. The umpire called him safe, but he was out cold.
One never knows when the unexpected can happen. But if you live in Modesto, your chance of surviving a heart attack is improved with the Modesto Fire Department’s enhanced Advanced Life Support system.
“Enhancing patient care is our number one priority,” said Fire Chief Jim Miguel. “Our project involves Kaiser Permanente, the Stanislaus Community Foundation and the Modesto Fire Department. Because of this support, we can equip each of our four engines with ALS personnel and equipment.”
Like in the case of Donald, the Modesto Fire Department as first responders can arrive on scene with trained Emergency Medical Technicians to administer life support with equipment, including defibrillators. “We have 11 fire stations throughout the City of Modesto,” said Chief Miguel. “With an improved Advanced Life Support system, we are going to prevent disasters and save lives.”
