Kaiser Permanente thrives for babies with March of Dimes
Nearly 90 Central Valley Area employees, physicians and their family members demonstrated their commitment to finding a cure for birth defects and premature births at the 2017 March of Dimes “March for Babies,” Saturday, May 6, in Modesto.
Jointly led by the Central Valley’s Maternal Child Health and Pediatrics departments, the annual event held in downtown Modesto featured a 3-mile walk, costume contests, and the “release of doves,” a touching remembrance of all premature babies who did not survive.
“It was awesome to see such an outpouring of support,” said Tanya Scott, RN, Director of Maternal Child Health in Modesto. “We tripled the number of KP participants and exceeded our fundraising from last year.”
Scott said she hopes to continue growing the event each year.
