Access to care in many languages 

Communicating about health concerns is difficult enough without a language barrier. That’s why Oakland Medical Center has caregivers who are trained to provide care in other languages, including Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language. And in the exam room, our telephone language line offers interpreters who speak Spanish, Hindi, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Farsi, and more.

Supporting the diverse needs of our community
Caregivers at this hospital have partnered with our Institute for Culturally Competent Care to ensure all members can easily access care. Culturally relevant education classes, videos, and printed support materials are available in several languages. (Some classes may require a fee.)

A Center of Excellence in specialty care for Northern California
The Oakland Medical Center is a cutting-edge specialty care center, employing board-certified physicians and surgeons who teach at renowned universities like the University of California at San Francisco. Members with especially complicated conditions are referred from Kaiser Permanente facilities across the region to receive care from one of a wide array of highly specialized care units, including:

Farmers’ market makes healthy eating easy
Our weekly all-organic, year-round farmers’ market is now located in front of the north side of the Hospital building on West MacArthur Blvd. at Howe Street (see map). The markets bring the best and freshest products from California farms to our members and the community. Oakland members can stock up on fresh produce every Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
