Fresno Medical Center signs help you find your way

The signs, they are a-changin’ at the Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center.

More than 300 new signs are being installed inside the medical center on North Fresno Street campus, making it easier for our members and visitors to navigate among outpatient offices, hospital departments, gift shop, cafeteria, and corridor and lobby areas.

Signage is one element in an array of projects under way or scheduled to refresh the medical center with the “Total Health Environment” atmosphere of the Kaiser Permanente brand.

Our greeter stations at the Palm and Yosemite entrances to the building also are getting a new look. Signage outside the building and in our parking lots will be changed soon, and numerous other “refreshing” projects will occur over the coming months.

Color, easy-to-see lettering and symbols, and new furnishings and lighting to help you feel comfortable and welcome at our facilities are all part of the plans for our “Total Health Environment.”

All are intended to evoke Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to physical, emotional, and spiritual health. We also want to improve access to our facilities and make it easier to find your way when you are here. The new facility directory signs will be in English and Spanish, and the greeter stations and furnishings will be accessible to those with disabilities.

“The Total Health Environment initiative is about infusing our brand—Total Health—into our facilities,” said Paul Tylar, manager for the Fresno team of designers and construction trades and crafts people who are part of the project.

“Our buildings are the physical expression of Total Health, so we’re working to update our existing buildings, like the medical center, to support a more people-friendly atmosphere,” Tylar said.
