Tweet Earns Suisun City School $5,000
BY ANTHONYAs part of Kaiser Permanente’s annual Martin Luther King Day of Service in January, participants were encouraged to use social media to highlight all the good work being done at schools throughout northern California, using the hashtag #KPCares4Schools. The location that received the most tweets and re-tweets would be eligible to win $5,000 for their school.
The tweeting paid off for Crescent Elementary School in Suisun City, thanks to the dedicated staff and Principal Stephanie Wheeler, as well as Cynthia Verrett, Community Benefit Manager for Kaiser Permanente. A tweet from the school was re-tweeted by Jason Verrett, Cynthia’s son and the 2014 first round draft pick for the San Diego Chargers. Some of Jason’s 20,000+ followers also retweeted, and the school earned the most exposure on social media by a landslide!
The school was presented with a check for $5,000 at a recent Fairfield School District School Board Meeting. Principal Wheeler is thrilled, and plans to use the money to support a community garden at the school
