Kaiser Permanente Honored for Low Cesarean Section Rates
Both Kaiser Permanente Vacaville and Vallejo Medical Centers were recently honored by the State of California Health and Human Services Agency and Smart Care California with a 2016 Achievement Award for meeting or exceeding the Healthy People 2020 Goal for low-risk, first-birth cesarean deliveries.
To receive the award, a hospital much achieve a C-section rate of 23.9 percent or lower. “By reaching this goal, your team is delivering safer and more affordable care for Californians,” said Diana S. Dooley, Secretary, Health and Human Services Agency, in a letter to the hospitals.
“At Kaiser Permanente, we strive every day to provide the highest level of care to our members and patients,” said Nor Jemjemian, Senior Vice President and Area Manager for Kaiser Permanente in the Napa-Solano Area. “I am very proud of our physicians, nurses, midwives and other caregivers who worked hard for this prestigious award.”
