Cancer & Nutrition by Charles Simone, M.MS., M.D.

Dr. Simone is an internist, medical oncologist, immunologist, and radiation oncologist. He has worked in cancer research and treatment since 1976 and has devoted part of his time investigating the effects of nutrition on cancer and the possibilities of cancer prevention. In his book, he discusses a 10-point plan to reduce cancer risk and heart disease.

This comprehensive book covers choices in healing, mainstream therapies, complementary therapies, pain control, and dying. The main focus is on complementary therapies, with major sections on spiritual, pharmacological, nutritional, and various specific unconventional treatments.

Cancer Recovery Eating Plan by Daniel Nixon, M.D.

Dr. Nixon is the president of the Institute for Cancer Prevention and the editor-in-chief of the journal Preventive Medicine. In his book, he explains the connections between diet and specific cancers. He also makes recommendations about alternative nutritional therapies. The book even includes numerous recipes developed by an accomplished chef. The diet can be easily followed by the whole family to help prevent cancer and many other medical problems such as heart disease.

The target audience for this book is people undergoing cancer treatment. The book is designed to help cancer patients better tolerate treatment and maintain a healthy lifestyle after treatment. There is a collection of 250 recipes with color photographs evaluated with regard to their nutritional value, taste, simplicity, availability of ingredients and preparation time.
