About Trauma Care
Trauma care thrives in an integrated system where physicians, nurses, and staff work in an environment where communication, access to accurate patient information, and personalized care based on the best medical practices helps to deliver the best health care to the patient at every touch point.
Our medical center is staffed 24 hours a day with a team of in-house trauma surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, physician specialists, and a full trauma care support team.
In addition, our Emergency Department physicians have trained at Level I trauma centers, as have other readily available specialists, including neurosurgeons, general surgeons, neurointerventionalists, neuro-radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, oral and ear-nose-throat specialists, and plastic surgeons.
And, with our innovative telemedicine technology, we can bring specialists from anywhere in the Kaiser Permanente network to a patient’s bedside—effectively harnessing the power of more than 7,000 physicians, specialists and surgeons throughout Northern California.
Many trauma patients are transported to our medical center by ground ambulances and helicopter ambulances, which land on a helipad, just a few hundred feet from our Emergency Department.
Our spacious Trauma Unit, located in our Emergency Department, houses three high-tech resuscitation bays equipped with the latest medical equipment and technology.
Our state-of-the-art Trauma Center provides acute care for the duration of a patient’s injury or illness with in-house laboratory, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy and social services. And for patients who need extended rehabilitation services, our award-winning Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center is located at our Vallejo Medical Center.
