Our Model of Care

East Bay Adult Services Psychiatry Model of Care

The East Bay Adult Services Psychiatry Department follows a model of care that weaves group and individual psychotherapy with behavior health classes, medication management, case management, and/or other specialty services to provide the quality of care that our members seek.

Individual psychotherapy in the department is anchored in a Cognitive Based-Solution Oriented approach which has been supported in the literature for proven effectiveness.

  • Treatment involves a problem solving approach to help patients develop the necessary changes in their behavior, thoughts, and feelings to improve their coping abilities for mental and emotional distress.
  • The interventions also tend to focus on the here and now and involves an active collaboration between the patient and the therapist.
  • The individual treatment approach works in conjunction with our group and class program and medication management program to offer our patients diverse treatment options for their mental health needs.

Our research has shown that patients receiving group psychotherapy have 25% better outcomes than those patients who do not attend. This is a significant outcome and therefore we are committed to continually expanding and improving our class and group treatment program.

  • We have worked hard to expand and improve our treatment programs so that most patients’ needs can be addressed by one or more of our groups.
  • Our groups are designed for easy accessibility, with many classes and groups offered in the evenings. As a result, we have a high rate of utilization for our groups and classes.
