Laparoscopy
Minimally Invasive Surgery Group: Laparoscopy
The Minimally Invasive Surgery Group represents a collection of surgeons across the East Bay with specialized training in minimally invasive surgical technique. This surgical approach is unique in that it allows for major surgeries to be performed through small surgical incisions. The advantages to this approach are numerous.
What are the advantages of minimally invasive surgeries (laparoscopy)?
Because the incisions are smaller with minimally invasive techniques, patients have less blood loss, less scarring, and less post-operative pain. Often, minimally invasive surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis. Many can be done under local anesthesia. Patients can usually resume their normal activities sooner then with traditional surgery. Patients should discuss the pros and cons of choosing minimally invasive surgery with their physicians, because although these advantages are generally true, each case may vary.
