Help Me Communicate is a 2-part class for parents and caregivers of children ages 12-30 months with expressive
language challenges (“late talkers”). In Help Me Communicate, families will:
- Learn how and why language develops
- Recognize the many different ways in which children communicate
- Improve understanding of their child’s language needs
- Understand why and how to implement home practice strategies to help their children learn to communicate more effectively
This class may also be available in Antioch and Pleasanton – schedule permitting.
More Than Words® is a 13-week* parent training
program for families with children newly diagnosed
with autism. In MTW, families will learn to:
- Improve two-way interaction with their child
- Promote conventional ways of communicating
- Encourage better social communication
- Increase their child’s understanding of language
*13 weeks = 9 parent-only class sessions, 4 parent and child sessions
Picky Eaters is a single session class for parents and caregivers of children ages 6 months to 12 years, who refuse to eat certain foods on certain
days (“picky eaters”). In the Picky Eaters class, families will:
- Recognize the cues and steps to their child’s eating
- Discover the truths about eating
- Understand why a child may be a challenging feeder
- Learn strategies to expand their child’s dietary profile

How to be a Sensory Superstar is a class for parents
and caregivers of young children with sensory challenges.
In How to be a Sensory Superstar, families will:
- Learn about sensory processing and how it impacts their child’s function
- Gain information about the different sensory systems involved in sensory processing challenges, and the behaviors associated with each system
- Improve understanding of their child’s sensory needs
- Understand why and how to implement a Home Sensory Program
