What will this evaluation consist of?
What should parents/caregivers expect?
Your child was referred by the doctor for evaluation. You can expect to spend approximately 45 minutes in our clinic. Through play we will evaluate your child to determine how we can best support their growth and development. The therapists will observe child’s motor skills (rolling, crawling, walking, running), strength, flexibility and balance. If recommended, the therapist will provide activities or exercises at the end of the session for you to practice at home and plan for future visits.
Your child was referred by the doctor for evaluation. You can expect to spend approximately 45 minutes in our clinic. Through play we will evaluate your child to determine how we can best support their growth and development. The therapist will observe your child’s self-care skills (dressing, self-feeding, grooming, etc.), with an emphasis on motor skills needed to do these tasks (reach, grasp, eye-hand coordination), strength, balance. If recommended, the therapist will provide activities or exercises at the end of the session for you to practice at home and/or plan for future visits.
Your child was referred by the doctor to review and support appropriate feeding and swallowing safely. You can expect to spend approximately 45 minutes in our clinic. While in our clinic the therapist will work with your child to assess and observe your child’s feeding skills. The therapist will often use playful games and toys to build trust and assess skills that support feeding.
Your child was referred by the doctor for evaluation. You can expect to spend approximately 45 or 75 minutes in our clinic. Through play we will evaluate your child to determine how we can best support their growth and development of speech and language skills. The therapist will interact directly with your child to observe and assess how speech therapy can support your child. If recommended, the therapist will provide activities or exercises at the end of the session for you to practice at home and/or plan for future visits.
