Oakland Adult Eating Disorders Program

The Adult Eating Disorders Treatment Program at Oakland Medical Center consists of:

  • Assessment and treatment for Adults with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and other Specified/Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder
  • Individual Evaluation by Therapist, Registered Dietitian and Physician
  • Medical Management by Specialty Eating Disorder Medical Clinic
  • Outpatient Individual and/or Group Treatment
  • Family education and/or treatment
  • Supported meals and snacks

After an initial evaluation, the eating disorder team will meet to discuss an appropriate, individualized treatment plan. The primary goals are weight/health restoration and discontinuation of symptoms for adults struggling with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and other Specified/Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder.

Based on the individual’s medical need for treatment, we provide either basic outpatient levels of care, including individual and group treatment options, or “enhanced” level of care that involves multiple appointments per week with various clinicians. Kaiser Permanente offers a full continuum of care in addition to our outpatient services, including Intensive Outpatient at three sub-regional sites and Inpatient Care as medically needed.

We offer groups addressing normal eating (Meal Groups), Skill-development, Body Image, Emotional Overeating, Motivation & Planning and ongoing Recovery support.
