Addiction Medicine
We appreciate your interest in our Addiction Medicine Recovery Service (AMRS). We know that reaching out for help is not easy to do. We also want you to know that our staff will do everything we can, to help you be successful. For many of us who work here, this is more than a vocation. We understand, like few can, how deadly serious addiction is.
We are accepting of whatever reason brought you to our program. This is a place where you can be honest about your substance use and what you want to do about it. There are some who come here, who are not sure if they are finished with their alcohol or drug use. They may come here for reasons related to legal, occupational or relationship pressure. Whatever the reason, many are able to make successful changes anyway. Thank you for your trust, and the willingness to begin this process.
We are a “Walk-In” clinic. To receive services, arrive between 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday – Wednesday and Friday. Thursday hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:45. Weekend hours (Saturday-Sunday) are 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
After checking in with the front desk, you will be seen by one of our “screening” counselors to determine the type of care you will need. Should this counselor determine there is a medical indication for withdrawal treatment, you will first be seen by one of our medical providers. Nearly all medical detoxification is done on an out-patient basis. After meeting with the medical provider, and if appropriate, you will be scheduled with a substance abuse counselor; possibly that same day. Should the situation warrant, you can be scheduled to meet with the counselor at your next appointment.
Meeting with a substance abuse counselor is designed to explore and discuss the treatment options that address your present situation. The counselor will explain the different treatment programs that are offered, and make recommendations based on their assessment of your circumstances. These discussions may include issues such as medical leave from work and assistance with disability paperwork or suggestions about sober living environments, if necessary.
***On the weekend, members are screened for medical evaluation services only and then may be scheduled with a substance abuse counselor during the weekday for a treatment planning assessment.
