I am excited to join Kaiser Permanente in 2014 as the Chief Nurse-Midwife. I have been a midwife since 1996, primarily in the Washington D.C. area. I love being a midwife! I feel blessed to be able to work with and care for women and their families at this important juncture. I aim to work in collaboration with each woman so that she feels respected, informed, and listened to, throughout her pregnancy and birth. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring Northern California.

I have truly enjoyed working at Kaiser Permanente since joining the midwifery practice in 2008. Prior to working here, I worked as a CNM in a private practice. I love what I do and feel privileged to be with women and families during pregnancy and birth. I strive to provide safe, compassionate, respectful, individualized care to every woman I see and desire to help women and families achieve the birth experience they want. When I am not working, I love spending time with my family including my husband and three growing boys. I am an avid reader, enjoy being active/outdoors, and have a passion for travel.

I have been a midwife at Kaiser Permanente since 2004. I have been an RN since 1980, an Ob/Gyn NP since 1986, and a nurse midwife since 1994, and I love my job! My goal is to be in partnership with the women I care for, providing the information they need to make important choices about their health. I value each woman’s experience and concerns, and hope to prepare them for a positive pregnancy, birth and motherhood. In my spare time I enjoy being in nature and spending time with family and friends.

Welcome to Kaiser Permanente and our Midwifery team! I have worked at Kaiser since 1992, but as a Midwife since 1999. Prior to working at Kaiser Permanente, I worked as a Midwife in private practice, county facilities and as a civilian employee at the California Naval bases. At Kaiser, I feel privileged to work with such a special group of Midwives and Ob/Gyn physicians. Together we work as a team, to teach, empower and support women and their families. On a personal level, I am married, love animals and have two grown boys whom I am very proud of. I enjoy traveling, cooking, exercising and working in my garden.

I joined the Kaiser Permanente midwifery team in 2015 and have loved getting to know the women and families we have the privilege to care for. Prior to Kaiser, I spent over ten years working with birthing families in various capacities in several different home and birth center midwifery practices. I also worked as a lactation consultant and childbirth educator in private practice for Kaiser and WIC. I love helping women achieve the birth they want and had my own son with the help of a fantastic midwife and the wonderful staff at Kaiser Permanente. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, gardening and cheering for the San Francisco Giants with my family.

Its a pleasure to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente Midwifery group. I’ve been caring for women and children my entire nursing career, and I especially love supporting women during this important time in their lives. Although I have done many things in my life, I still think that mothering my own four children is one of my greatest experiences, and I feel honored to be a witness to so many births. I have had the unique experience of nursing abroad and spent 2 years living and working at a hospital in Sierra Leone West Africa caring for women with birth related injuries. During my time in Sierra Leone I was able to lay the groundwork for a birthing center that is now training midwives. It was that experience that brought me back to California and the midwifery program at UCSF in 2009. In my spare time, I love being outdoors, camping, hiking or being in my garden, and being a grandma is pretty cool as well.

I have been working as a nurse-midwife since 2014. I completed my midwifery education at Vanderbilt University, and had the privilege of working with Alaska Native Women and their families for 4 years in Anchorage, Alaska. I believe that women are powerful, and should be in charge of their beautiful bodies and their healthcare decisions at every stage. I look forward to partnering with the midwife team at Kaiser to continue to empower and listen to women on their journey to motherhood. You can find me running the trails and camping around the lake in the summer, and trying not to tumble down the hillside snowboarding in the winter.

After working in a small private practice on the Central Coast of California, I am excited to join the midwife group at Kaiser Permanente! My goal is to empower women to be an active participant in their health and wellness. I strive to create individualized care plans while answering questions and providing educational resources. I feel honored to be a midwife and appreciate each opportunity to participate in a growing family’s journey. In my spare time, I enjoy competitively riding both of my horses, photography, hiking and playing with my dogs, and all around exploring the outdoors.

I started my career in women’s health working with lactation consultants at WIC in South Sacramento, which led me to midwifery school at the University of California San Francisco. I worked with the faculty midwifery practice at the University of Iowa for seven years before returning to California and joining the Kaiser team in 2016. I am happy to be back serving the community that inspired me. I speak Spanish and enjoy working with women and families from around the world. Outside of work, I like to explore parks and libraries with my family.

I knew that I wanted to catch babies when I was 10 years old and saw my little brother born, but didn’t know about midwives until much later. The holistic approach focused on listening to women, supporting a normal human process, and using evidence to educate and empower women to make their own decisions completely resonated with me. Once I figured this out, I switched from pre-med to nursing and then worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 2 years while attending graduate school at Georgetown University to become a nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. After graduating in 2014, I had the privilege of working in Davis, CA for 4 years and am excited to continue caring for the amazing and diverse women of Northern California at Kaiser Roseville. When I am not catching babies, I love eating good food, traveling, adventuring outdoors with my husband and two young daughters, running, hiking, biking, skiing, and baking treats.

I am thrilled to be part of the Kaiser Permanente family! I have been in the birth world for over 15 years in many evolving roles, both here in California and throughout the Midwest. Prior to becoming a nurse-midwife, I practiced as a holistic health practitioner, herbalist, massage therapist, and doula. While completing my Master’s degree, I worked as an RN on a high-risk L&D unit in Sacramento. My most rewarding accomplishment has been being a mother to three beautiful children. My own births have ranged from an unmedicated tub birth to a C-section with a preterm baby. Both my life experiences and professional training have fostered a passion to support and empower women in all phases of their lives. I believe that those I care for are the experts of their own bodies, including their physical, mental, emotional, and informational needs. Outside of work, I enjoy getting outdoors, relaxing with my husband and children, yoga, knitting, and dreaming about sleeping in.
