Solar Panel Project is Underway
As part of Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to a healthy environment, the installation of solar panels on our South Sacramento Medical Center campus is now underway.
The long-anticipated project will be completed in phases to minimize the impact on parking as much as possible. The entire project, which includes installation at our Wyndham and both Elk Grove medical offices, is expected to be completed by Spring 2020.
During construction, certain parking lots will be closed and employees and members will be directed to park in alternate areas. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience throughout the project.
Solar Panel Installation Timeline (dates subject to change)
- South Sacramento Medical Center – Aug. 17, 2019 thru April 9, 2020
- Wyndham Medical Offices – TBD
- Elk Grove (Big Horn) – Mid-October 2019 thru mid-February 2020
- Elk Gove Promenade – Early November 2019 thru late February 2020
In addition to generating power for our local facilities, our solar panels will also provide welcome shade in our parking lots, helping to keep cars cool on hot days.
The solar program is part of Kaiser Permanente’s broader mission to reach carbon-neutrality by 2025. Our South Sacramento and Elk Grove sites are among nearly 100 KP sites that have or will receive solar panels, which is expected to save our organization $160 million in utility costs over the next 20 years.
