Dispose of Your Expired and Unused Drugs
Medicines help treat diseases, manage chronic conditions and improve health and well-being for millions of Americans. Over time, we tend to accumulate expired or unused drugs in our medicine cabinets.
Now you can properly dispose of your old and unwanted medication at a Medication Take Back bin located in one of our local pharmacies. You will also help to prevent contamination of our water supplies and harm to fish and wildlife.
Large, blue Medication Take Back bins are located inside of our Fremont-Ohlone and Union City pharmacies. Learn more about what items are accepted and items that are not allowed at these bins.
Here Comes the Sun: Solar Coming to San Leandro and Union City
Our San Leandro Medical Center and Union City Medical Offices will soon be even greener and more sustainable while supporting Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to the environment, our members and our communities.
The installation of onsite solar power generation has started on the San Leandro and Union City MOB campuses. This is part of the planned solar installations at over 100 Kaiser Permanente facilities across California within the next two years.
Solar photovoltaic arrays will be constructed and integrated over carports in the campus parking lots, providing welcome shade from the sun for parking spots used by members, visitors and employees.
As a result of the solar installations, some parking lots on the San Leandro and Union City MOB campuses will be temporarily closed to accommodate construction. To minimize disruption to our members, visitors and staff, these closures will be split into phases. For details of the temporary parking lot closures, please refer to the San Leandro parking map or Union City MOB parking map.
Soil Excavation Work Near San Leandro Medical Center – June through August
Now through August, Kaiser Permanente will be doing soil excavation, removal and restoration work on its property located just north of the San Leandro Medical Center campus.
This site work will take place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and if needed on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. This project is expected to last through August but the timeline may change due to weather and other factors.
Large trucks will be coming into the San Leandro Medical Center campus via Garfield Drive (from Marina Blvd.). The trucks will drive into the northern parcel area to pick up excavated soil or unload new soil. After loading and unloading, the trucks will leave the medical center campus heading north on Garfield Drive and make a right onto Marina Blvd. to enter i880 South freeway.
During this time, you may experience some noise and dust as a result of the excavation work. While no road closures are planned near the work site, construction workers will be stationed at key areas to ensure smooth traffic flow near the work site.
Thank you for your patience during this temporary project.
