Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Redwood City has earned designation by The Joint Commission as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, effective January 2016. Redwood City Medical Center is among the first 100 hospitals in the U.S. to earn certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. For our patients and their families, it means we can provide advanced stroke care.

Health Insurance Plan Rankings
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in its Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2015 – 2016 named Kaiser Permanente health plans as No. 1 in the nation — out of approximately 500 commercial health plans considered — for 21 measures including cervical cancer screening, controlling high blood pressure, adult BMI assessment and comprehensive diabetes care (medical attention for nephropathy).
This is the seventh year in a row that Kaiser Permanente has had the most No. 1 rankings among U.S. commercial health plans. The source for data contained in this publication is Quality Compass® 2015 and is used with the permission of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Patient Advocate’s Health Care Quality Report Card
For a record-setting eighth year in a row, Kaiser Permanente Northern and Southern California are the only plans to achieve perfect scores for clinical quality in the California Office of the Patient Advocate’s Health Care Quality Report Card.* In the 2015-2016 edition of the HMO quality report card, we’re also the only plan to earn a perfect four stars for cancer screenings, providing the right care for adults, and asthma, diabetes, maternity, and heart care. *Health Care Quality Report Card, 2015 Edition, California Office of the Patient Advocate. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Rating
Kaiser Permanente California Senior Advantage (HMO) was rated an excellent 5 out of 5 stars overall in 2016 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The rating was based on major categories that include preventive care, chronic care, prescription drug services, customer service, and member satisfaction. It was the fifth straight year Kaiser Permanente in California has received 5 stars.*

Redwood City was named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. They were recognized for exemplary performance in using evidence based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including care for heart attack, pneumonia, surgery, children’s asthma, stroke, and venous thromboembolism, as well as inpatient psychiatric services. Covered California’s Quality Rating System
In 2013, 2014 and 2015 Kaiser Permanente California health plans were awarded 4 stars for quality — the highest possible rating — according to Covered California’s Quality Rating System.* Covered California, the state’s marketplace for the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, concluded that Kaiser Permanente is at the top of the class for quality and care based on reported experiences of members. The ratings are based on nearly 50 nationally accepted measurements, including: service, access to care, preventive care, and clinical care.

Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality
All 38 KP hospitals have been recognized as a “Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality 2015” by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (we have been awarded “Top Performer” or “Leader” status each year since 2010). This recognition is given to health care facilities that meet LGBT-inclusive benchmarks that are part of the HRC Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI). The HEI is a survey that evaluates health care organizations’ inclusive policies and practices relating to LGBT patients, visitors, and employees. Sustainable San Mateo County
In 2015, Our new Redwood City Hospital received an Honorable Mention for sustainable building practices and is also seeking Silver LEED status. Sustainable San Mateo County recognized Kaiser Permanente San Mateo Medical Offices with a 2012 Green Building Honor Award for the green building practices employed in new construction.

U.S. News & World Report named Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center as a high performing hospital in 2014 for Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center as a high performing hospital in 2014 for neuroscience.
Most Wired
Kaiser Permanente Hospitals Named 2013 Most Wired. Our California hospitals have been named among the nation’s Most Wired based on results from Hospitals & Health Networks magazine’s Health Care’s Most Wired 2013 Survey. This designation means that Kaiser Permanente uses technology integration at all levels, including infrastructure, business and administration applications, clinical quality and safety, and care continuum.
