Free Take A Hike program

Join park rangers and docents on a monthly hike that combines exercise and information about park features and natural history. Participants will also hear from a host of doctors who will share tips on remaining active while avoiding injuries and how to prepare for your outdoor activity. Take A Hike is a member of the Healthy Parks, Healthy People Bay Area collaborative with sponsorship from Kaiser Permanente. New research about stroke care

Dr. Alexander Flint, Neuroscience, at the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center, is quoted and cited in the Wall Street Journal online “HeartBeat” column written by Ron Winslow. The article, below, talks about Dr. Flint’s research that showed that stroke patients who receive statins immediately or continuously upon admission to the hospital had a significantly higher rate of survival and/or a faster return home. Aside from Dr. Flint’s research, the Wall Street Journal article below cites the growth of accredited primary stroke centers and emergency department improvements for the national decrease in stroke fatalities.
