Kaiser Permanente Awards $2 Million to Reduce Stigma Around Mental Illness
Kaiser Permanente announced a $2 million investment to support community organizations in their work to reduce the stigma around mental illness. Twenty-five Northern California organizations were awarded community health grants, including school districts, youth and family services and community coalitions that bring together a variety of stakeholders and agencies to serve people that historically shy away from getting mental health services.

Learn healthy cooking at the new Thrive Kitchen
There is a new resource for healthy eating with the arrival of Linda Shiue, MD, the San Francisco Medical Center’s first-ever director of Culinary Medicine. In addition to being an internal medicine physician and seeing patients, Dr. Shiue has launched a hands-on healthy cooking program, “The Thrive Kitchen.” The class is offered monthly at the Mission Bay Medical Offices, 1600 Owens St.

Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center has earned a distinction as a Top Teaching Hospital by the Leapfrog Group, a national group that compares hospitals’ performance on U.S. standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
