Kaiser Permanente announced a $2 million investment to support community organizations in their work to reduce the stigma around mental illness. Twenty-five Northern California organizations were awarded community health grants, including school districts, youth and family services and community coalitions that bring together a variety of stakeholders and agencies to serve people that historically shy away from getting mental health services.

For the seventh consecutive year, Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare health plans in California have earned 5 out of 5 stars, the highest overall rating in the state for quality and service for 2018 from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).  Read more.

There is a new resource for healthy eating with the arrival of Linda Shiue, MD, the San Francisco Medical Center’s first-ever director of Culinary Medicine. In addition to being an internal medicine physician and seeing patients, Dr. Shiue has launched a hands-on healthy cooking program, “The Thrive Kitchen.” The class is offered monthly at the Mission Bay Medical Offices, 1600 Owens St.
