Cardiology
Our Department
We provide general cardiology and preventive/rehabilitative services, as well as specialized programs for members with coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure. Our services here at South San Francisco include ICU/Coronary Care Unit/Telemetry Unit acute cardiac care, echocardiography, stress testing (including nuclear imaging), pacemaker implantation and follow up, automatic implantable defibrillator follow up, 24-hour and event monitor services, and tilt table testing. Our cardiologists work in conjunction with Regional Centers at San Francisco Kaiser (for cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention and heart surgery), and San Jose (for Cardiac Electrophysiology Services including testing, catheter ablation procedures, and defibrillator implantation).
Our skilled and caring team includes board certified invasive and non-invasive cardiologists, electrocardiogram technicians, echocardiogram technicians, registered nurses specializing in congestive heart failure management and coronary risk reduction/cardiac rehabilitation, and other staff. We also work in collaboration with vascular and thoracic surgeons here in South San Francisco, and interventional cardiologists, cardiac electrophysiologists and cardiovascular surgeons at the regional centers.
How to Get Care
New patients are seen by referral from their primary care provider, or after hospitalization for cardiac problems. Cardiologists provide treatment and follow up care in conjunction with your primary care provider.
