  • Out of 484 private plans ranked by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in its Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2013 – 2014, Northern California Region was ranked highest in California, and seventh in the nation.   • Kaiser Permanente California Senior Advantage (HMO) was rated an excellent 5 out of 5 stars overall in 2015 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The rating was based on major categories that include preventive care, chronic care, prescription drug services, customer service, and member satisfaction.   • South San Francisco was named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® for 2011, 2012 and 2013 by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. They were recognized for exemplary performance in using evidence based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including care for heart attack, pneumonia, surgery, children’s asthma, stroke, and venous thromboembolism, as well as inpatient psychiatric services.   • Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Hospital earned the top “A” ratings from The Leapfrog Group in its annual 2014 safety report. The report examined and graded more than 2,500 hospitals throughout the United States on limiting patient injuries, reducing medical and medication errors, and preventing infections. This is the third year The Leapfrog Group has published the Hospital Safety Scores and it has given South San Francisco Hospital every year, using 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. www.hospitalsafetyscore.org

  • Kaiser Permanente Hospitals Named 2013 Most Wired.  Our California hospitals have been named among the nation’s Most Wired based on results from Hospitals & Health Networks magazine’s Health Care’s Most Wired 2013 Survey.  This designation means that Kaiser Permanente uses technology integration at all levels, including infrastructure, business and administration applications, clinical quality and safety, and care continuum.
  • In 2013, Kaiser Permanente California health plans were awarded 4 stars for quality — the highest possible rating — according to Covered California’s Quality Rating System.* Covered California, the state’s marketplace for the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, concluded that Kaiser Permanente is at the top of the class for quality and care based on reported experiences of members. The ratings are based on nearly 50 nationally accepted measurements, including: service, access to care, preventive care, and clinical care.
