About our Comprehensive Stroke Program

Our Advanced Neuroscience Center provides 24/7 specialized treatment of complex stroke and neurological disorders. We serve as a Northern California center of expertise for Kaiser Permanente members and for the community.

These efforts have earned Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Hospital prestigious certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and are among the first 100 hospitals in the nation to achieve this certification from the The Joint Commission, The American Heart Association and the American Stoke Association.

Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recognized Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Redwood City since 2010 with the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for use of evidence-based guidelines to provide the best possible care to patients through The American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® program.

Our multi-disciplinary team in Redwood City includes emergency physicians, registered nurses with specialty training in stroke care, and neuro-ICU staff overseen by neurointensivists and 13 neurosurgeons. In our new hospital, we utilize state of the art diagnostic tools and surgical space. By concentrating these resources and knowledge, we can offer the most cutting edge stroke care.

In 2018 Kaiser Permanente Redwood City performed 588 diagnostic cerebral angiograms with a 0% rate of serious complication* and our program had a 0% serious complication* rate for carotid artery stenting and endarterectomy.
