Our Genetic Counselors
Anna Victorine, MS, LCGC
My Background
I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs and moved to Los Angeles in 2019.
Education & Experience
I first heard about genetic counseling while attending college at Indiana University, Bloomington and knew it was a perfect fit for me. I had always been interested in hereditary diseases and was looking for a career that could combine this interest with my passion for teaching and desire to help others. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology and then went on to pursue a master’s degree in medical & molecular genetics at Indiana University Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI).
Ever terrorized by bitter Midwest winters, I then headed west and started my career as a genetic counselor in Las Vegas, NV. In Las Vegas I worked at a high-risk pregnancy practice for two years where I focused on prenatal and cancer genetics and then transitioned to a separate private practice where I provided genetic counseling for cancer and adult genetics for another two years. I then moved on to work for a laboratory where I assisted healthcare providers order and interpret cancer genetic tests for their patients before I joined Kaiser in 2019.
About My Practice
I am a board certified and licensed genetic counselor and I primarily focus on cancer, prenatal, and pediatric genetics. I am particularly interested in precision medicine and tailoring treatments to our unique genetic predispositions. I also truly enjoy helping families navigate through challenging times and find lifechanging answers.
I have been a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) since 2013 and have held several leadership positions, including co-chair of the Precision Medicine Special Interest Group in 2017 and 2018. I also have presented my research and experience at several local and national conferences and enjoy speaking about genetic counseling as a career field at schools.
How I Thrive
Nature is a way for me to recharge and so I try to spend time outdoors whenever I can; I really love hiking, picnicking, sightseeing, gardening, and learning about plants and animals at zoos and botanical gardens. I try to travel as much as I can and love experiencing new cultures. I am also an avid foodie and am always open to trying new foods!
