Immunizations

Immunizations (vaccines) protect your child from getting serious diseases such as polio, chicken pox and measles. If your child does get sick after being immunized, it’s most likely they’ll have a much milder case.

Some parents are concerned that vaccines can cause autism, a developmental disorder. Studies show that there is no link between vaccines and autism. The rate of autism is the same for children who get vaccines and those who don’t.

Vaccines have undergone intensive testing to make sure they’re safe for your child. The most common side effect is soreness or redness where the shot is given or a low-grade fever. The protection your child receives is well worth any slight discomfort and many children have no reaction at all.
