Immunizations keep your child healthy

Think of immunizations as a partner in your child’s health care. They do a great job in keeping your child healthy and protecting him or her from many serious diseases.

Immunizations are given at specific times – some shortly after your child is born, some when your child is several years old. Your doctor will give you a schedule of when your child should have each vaccine. Immunizations are usually given at well-care visits, which is one reason these visits are so important.

Bring your child’s immunization record with you each time you come for care, even if your child is not scheduled for an immunization. Keep your child’s immunization record. You may need to show it when your child starts school or travels or later on, applies for a job.
