Medicaid provides free or low-cost health coverage to low-income individuals and their families. In Washington State, the Medicaid program is called Washington Apple Health. On January 1, 2014, Washington State expanded their Medicaid program (Washington Apple Health) to a larger and more diverse group of people, including adults and children below certain income levels.
Kaiser Permanente participates in Washington Apple Health through Molina Healthcare of Washington, a Medicaid Managed Care Organization (MCO).
In order to choose Kaiser Permanente as your healthcare provider, you must qualify for Washington Apple Health, be assigned to Molina Healthcare as your MCO, and live in a Kaiser Permanente Medicaid service area.
At Kaiser Permanente, you have a wide network of doctors and specialists to choose from. Many of our Kaiser Permanente providers accept patients with Washington Apple Health coverage through Molina Healthcare of Washington.

The Affordable Care Act ensures all Medicaid health plans offer what are known as Essential Health Benefits (EHB). These comprehensive services include the following categories:
