Learn about our advisory councils in Northern CA
When our Fresno Medical Center wanted to make its pharmacies more user-friendly, leaders sought input from the people who actually used them — our members.
An advisory council made up of both employees and members regularly brainstorms solutions to various issues. All of our Northern California medical centers have an advisory council.
“Collaborating with patients and families gives us a perspective that we haven’t had, and we are able to incorporate their opinions into our decision making,” says Celia Ryan, Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California executive director of Patient Safety.
“As a small business owner, I know if you put the customers’ needs first, everything else will fall into place,” says member Mike Watson, who serves on Fresno’s advisory council. “I’m pleased that Kaiser Permanente is making members its top priority.”
The councils seek members who are good listeners and collaborative. Assembling a group that can represent the diverse communities Kaiser Permanente serves is also important.
