About Us

Kaiser Permanente is a vital member of the Fresno business community as well as a leading provider of health care in Fresno, Madera, and northern Kings and Tulare counties. It is one of the largest private sector employers in the Central San Joaquin Valley with more than 2,300 employees and physicians.

“Our philosophy is to provide members access to high-quality, affordable care that emphasizes prevention and a caring relationship with a primary care physician,” said Debbie Hemker, RN, Senior Vice President and Area Manager for the Fresno Service Area. “By addressing the health concerns of our community, we can help make Fresno a thriving place to live and work.”

Kaiser Permanente Fresno serves the community with five medical office buildings in Fresno, Clovis, Selma and Oakhurst. The Fresno Medical Center offers 169 inpatient beds in addition to maternity, emergency, outpatient, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy and health education services.

Kaiser Permanente Fresno is also certified as a Primary Stroke Center for its compliance with nationally-developed standards for stroke care. The certification means that KP Fresno has demonstrated that it can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients through the care it provides. Kaiser Permanente Fresno physicians, nurses, and other medical staff trained to evaluate stroke patients quickly and provide rapid treatment to reduce the risk of long-term damage to the brain and body.

Because Kaiser Permanente is a health care delivery system, not only an insurance company, it integrates all the elements of health care – physicians, hospitals, home health, pharmacy, support functions and insurance – into a cohesive whole. The value of this integration has become even more evident since the organization introduced KP HealthConnect, Kaiser Permanente’s national electronic medical record system that integrates a member’s clinical record with appointments, registration, recent lab results, prescriptions, emailing your doctor, and billing.

Alongside its commitment to patient care is Kaiser Permanente’s dedication to helping its communities. Through partnerships with diverse local organizations, Kaiser Permanente’s Community Benefit program addresses community health objectives and aids a number of civic and non-profit organizations such as safety net providers to strengthen health care services for the uninsured and underserved. In addition, Kaiser Permanente promotes healthy habits at neighborhood schools and hosts a weekly farmers market.
