Getting Ready for Your Online Class

Below are some common questions and answers about preparing for your online class. We recommend reading this before registering. Being prepared can help ensure a better online experience.

How do I enroll in an online class?

Call the San Francisco Kaiser Permanente Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at 415-833-0380 to register for online classes. You must be registered in order to receive the instructions you will need to attend your online class.

How do online classes work?

The day before your online class starts, you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to attend the class. If you don’t receive this e-mail, please check your spam folder or contact the San Francisco Kaiser Permanente Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at 415-833-0380.

What do I need to participate?

You will be able to join the class with a computer or tablet with Internet access and a telephone (landline is best). Although a headset or earpiece is not required to participate, you may want one to talk comfortably at your computer. If using a PC, we recommend Firefox or Chrome for your web browser. If using a Mac, we recommend Safari or Chrome for your web browser.

How do I set up my computer for the online class?

Setting up your computer before the class starts will help make sure that your computer is ready to go.

  • Click here to join a “test meeting” on Cisco WebEx to test your browser and enable a plug in. This will take 2-4 minutes to complete.

Before joining an online class, we recommend that you:

  • Close down unnecessary computer applications (e-mail, internet browsers, etc.).
  • Minimize distractions and background noise.
  • If possible, turn off or silent your telephone’s call waiting function.

What is expected of me during the online class?

Participate! Students consistently say that group discussion is one of the most valuable aspects of the online class.

Call WebEx technical support toll-free at (866) 229-3239. Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
