At Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, you have access to a wide range of specialty services to help your child thrive. We provide general pediatric care for children and young adults, as well as subspecialty care in:

 

Adolescent Medicine – Our doctors and nurses are specially trained and equipped to treat your child’s unique health needs during the adolescent years.

Allergy and Immunology – Our team of pediatric allergy specialists provides comprehensive services to patients with allergic, pulmonary, and immunological disorders.

Audiology and Speech Pathology – Our audiology and speech pathology care teams provide comprehensive services, including evaluation, hearing aid dispensing and cochlear implant services.

Cardiac Services – We offer a comprehensive range of cardiac services for the fetus, newborn, child and adolescent. These include general pediatric cardiac care, congenital or acquired heart disease, and congenital heart defects surgery among others.

Critical Care – Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and other staff with specialized training provide world-class care to children who are critically ill. We are committed to providing patient-centered care that promotes healing and family support.

Dermatology –Our dermatologists are trained to treat everything from common skin problems to more complex skin disorders related to congenital birth defects.

Endocrinology –
Our endocrinology team is specially trained to help your child manage diabetes. We also provide consultative care and advanced therapies to treat hormonal disorders, including growth delay, concerns related to puberty, thyroid disorders and more. Gastroenterology – We provide consultation, diagnosis and treatment to help children overcome gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and nutritional disorders, including Celiac Disease.

Genetics – We provide screening for genetic disorders, comprehensive genetic counseling, and diagnostic services to patients and families with a history of, or at risk for, birth defects, developmental disabilities, and hereditary disorders. Pediatric, adult, and prenatal diagnostic evaluations are carried out by a team of genetic counselors, nurses, and medical geneticists.

Hospital Medicine – Our hospitalists provide comprehensive inpatient care to children and adolescents with a wide array of medical conditions, including patients with complex health needs.

Childhood Cancers and Blood Disorders – Our comprehensive Cancer Care Program is designed to treat patients of all ages. Our services include bone marrow transplants, hematology, oncology, radiation therapy and more.

Infectious Disease – Our physicians are trained to diagnose, treat and prevent the full spectrum of disorders caused by organisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi. Our experts also work to prevent infections in our immuno-compromised pediatric patients.

Learning and Development – We have a multidisciplinary team of child development experts that evaluates, treats and supports children with attention deficit, learning challenges, and related learning difficulties. Our full service ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)/Behavior and Development team treats suspected disorders of social, cognitive, language and motor development.

Neonatology – Our neonatology unit provides world-class treatment and support to critically ill premature and full-term newborns and infants.

Nephrology – Our multidisciplinary teams work together to provide care to infants, children and adolescents with kidney disorders and conditions.

Neurology/Epilepsy – Our world-class team of neurologists is specially trained to treat a broad spectrum of neurological disorders in pediatric patients, including epilepsy and headache.

Mental Health Services –
Your child’s mental and emotional health are an important part of their overall wellbeing. Our team includes therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, child life specialists and other experts equipped to treat anxiety, depression, addiction, gender health, and more.

Ophthalmology – Our ophthalmology experts are equipped to treat all your child’s eye/vision needs, from congenital cataracts and strabismus, to more complex disorders.

Pain Program – A multidisciplinary team of pediatric specialists is available to help free your child from pain and empower them to thrive. Our approach goes beyond simply treating your child’s pain with medication. Instead, we strive to identify and eliminate the root cause of your child’s pain.

Pulmonology –
  Our specialists are committed to meeting the needs of every child with a respiratory disorder, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, apnea and more.

Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging – Our team of radiologists and radiology technicians has access to advanced diagnostic imaging techniques, and is specially trained to read and interpret imaging for the fetus, newborn, child and adolescent.

Rheumatology – Our team of pediatric rheumatologists specializes in conditions ranging from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, vasculitis and inflammatory and degenerative eye diseases.

Surgical Subspecialty Services –
Our pediatric surgeons and staff rely on the latest advancements in surgical care to treat a wide variety of clinical conditions. Our surgical subspecialties are:

Anesthesiology – Our team provides anesthesia services to all our pediatric patients undergoing a wide array of major surgeries. In addition, our anesthesiology care team works in conjunction with various other pediatric subspecialties.

Spina Bifida
Our Children’s Specialty Care team is supported by multidisciplinary clinics for Spina Bifida, and a home ventilator program for high risk infants.
Cystic Fibrosis
Our Children’s Specialty Care team is supported by multidisciplinary clinics for Cystic Fibrosis, and a home ventilator program for high risk infants.

The outpatient Pediatric Infusion Center provides therapy for oncology patients as well as others requiring infusion therapy (e.g. Rheumatology, Gastroenterology).

Urgent Care is available to walk-in patients during daytime hours and through appointments, or walk-ins after hours evenings, weekends and holidays.
