Donating COVID-19 supplies

Kaiser Permanente is humbled by the outpouring of support we have received from our communities and business partners to help source additional supplies.

Kaiser Permanente is aggressively working to secure the necessary personal protective equipment and other critical supplies to safeguard our employees and physicians in our medical centers in accordance with the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization guidelines, as well as guidance from our own infectious disease experts for clinical quality and safety.

As COVID-19 is now spreading quickly through many communities, our equipment and supply needs have increased significantly and so have our efforts. We are rapidly planning to ensure that we understand and can respond to the anticipated patient surge. We are evaluating various epidemic models and aligning our current and future supply needs.

We are also working with our current vendors and have expanded our reach to include nontraditional suppliers and are partnering with manufacturers and raw material suppliers to produce specific critical supplies, such as masks.

We are developing a national donation network to ensure equitable distribution of critical supplies across Kaiser Permanente and other health care providers. Donations will be brought to a central distribution center in each market where a team will inventory, inspect, and distribute these donations to our medical centers. This will include the appropriate clinical review by infectious disease leaders.

How you can help

Organizations and individuals interested in donating supplies can email information about items they'd like to donate to KPCOVID-19Donations@kp.org. We will contact the donor with further instructions, including how and where to send the donated items.

Items acceptable for donation include:

  • Medical swabs for collecting screening samples
  • Medical-grade and industrial-grade N95 masks
  • Other masks (surgical, isolation, and all others)
  • Gowns (surgical and isolation)
  • Face shields
  • Goggles
  • Gloves
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Hand sanitizer

For the safety of Kaiser Permanente patients and staff, all donations must be new, unopened, and in their original packaging. All donors will be provided in-kind donation forms for tax deduction purposes.
