Care Essentials comes to Portland’s Hawthorne neighborhood
Portland’s Hawthorne neighborhood has a lot to offer — eclectic shops, classic theaters, distinctive restaurants, and now quality health care provided by Care Essentials.
With this new location, Kaiser Permanente is proud to offer convenient, affordable care to the Hawthorne community. Care Essentials is open to members and nonmembers, and even accepts most health coverage plans.
Convenient care right around the corner
“When you’re not feeling well, the last thing you want to do is go far to see a doctor,” says Janet O’Hollaren, chief operating officer, Northwest, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals. “Care Essentials is designed to meet that need with a medical clinic that covers the basics, right in the neighborhood.”
Care Essentials clinicians can treat minor illnesses and injuries including:
- Abrasions
- Colds and flu
- Minor burns
- Pink eye
- Rashes
- Sinus infections
- Strep throat
- Urinary tract infections
And if you need common lab tests, vaccinations, or just a checkup, the Care Essentials team has you covered.

This Care Essentials facility is the second of its kind in Portland, opening just a year and a half after the Pearl District location. You can find the new Hawthorne location at:
