Earn a $200 fitness reward in Hawaii
A gym membership can be a great resource for staying active, but having one can also be expensive — especially if you’re on a budget. If you’re looking to stay fit while saving money, check out Kaiser Permanente Fit Rewards, our gym membership program for Hawaii members. It’s a great way to be kind to your body and your wallet.
How the program works
Starting January 1, 2019, Fit Rewards will be expanding to include all fitness centers statewide.1 You can choose from 5 tiers of fitness centers at different price points. So whether you’re into group fitness, boot camps, yoga, or lifting weights, we’ve got you covered. Simply work out at your chosen fitness center at least 45 days for a minimum of 30 minutes a visit by December 31, 2019. You’ll then earn a $200 reward for meeting the Fit Rewards requirements — no matter which tier you choose.2
And if you select a fitness center from tier 1 and meet your Fit Rewards requirements, your $200 reward will cover the cost of your membership for the whole year. See a breakdown below of tiers, their fees, and rewards. Please note that only one visit per calendar day will count toward your reward requirement.
Tier | Annual program fee | Additional monthly fee | Your reward |
Tier 1 | $200 | $0 | $200 (free membership) |
Tier 2 | $200 | $35 | $200 |
Tier 3 | $200 | $55 | $200 |
Tier 4 | $200 | $85 | $200 |
Tier 5 (outside tier network) | You pay standard retail fees directly to the fitness center. | $200 |
Not finding a fit in tier 1? No problem.
Pay your annual program fee and join a fitness center in tiers 2 through 4 to save up to 40% with a discounted monthly fee. Whatever tier you choose, you’ll still get a membership at rates well under market prices.
What if your favorite workout location isn’t listed?
No problem. With tier 5 fitness centers, you can use the new ASHConnectTM mobile app on or after January 1, 2019, to track your visits at more than 200 locations in Hawaii. You’ll have to pay that fitness center’s standard fee — but you’ll still be able to earn a $200 reward.

Stay active and reap the rewards
You’ll need to visit your gym at least 45 days for a minimum of 30 minutes a visit by the end of 2019. Remember, only one visit per calendar day will count toward your reward requirement. If you make these required visits, you’ll earn your $200 reward. So what are you waiting for? Sign up for Fit Rewards and take the first step to a healthy year.
1Fitness centers must be qualified fitness organizations operating for the general public; offer regular cardiovascular, flexibility, and/or resistance training exercise programs; be an established physical facility offering a membership agreement and overseen by staff. Fitness centers outside of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia do not qualify.
2Reward amount not to exceed annual program fee amount each calendar year. Earn your annual $200 program fee back by exercising 45 days a calendar year for at least 30 minutes per session at a participating fitness center or qualified outside tier (Tier 5) fitness center. Higher rates (for tiers 2, 3 and 4), taxes, and additional fees you pay your fitness center for classes, services, or amenities aren’t included in the program and are not eligible for reimbursement. Please consult with your tax adviser about the taxability of the reimbursement. Except for earning your annual program fee back by exercising 45 days a year for at least 30 minutes per session at a qualified fitness center, your annual program fee is not refundable and will not be prorated. Fitness center visits completed before your annual program fee is paid do not count toward your reward activity requirement. Only 1 visit per calendar day will count towards your reward requirement. Medicare and Medicaid (QUEST Integration) members excluded. For details, visit kp.org/fitrewards.
3The program website is available for members who are 18 years and older. Kaiser Permanente Fit Rewards is a value-added service and not part of your medical benefits. Your annual program fee does not count toward your health plan’s annual out-of-pocket maximum. This information is not a complete description of benefits.
