Renewing Your Medicaid Coverage in Georgia

Young child looking up at parent wanting to be picked up.

At least once per year, the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) will conduct a review to determine if your child/children still meet Medicaid eligibility requirements.

Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1:

DFCS will mail the renewal/redetermination packet to your child/children several weeks before your child/children’s redetermination date. The packet will include forms for you to fill out.
  • Step 2:

Please fill out, sign, and return the forms, along with any extra required information. All information must be completed by the deadline provided by DFCS to avoid a break in coverage.
  • Your child/children will continue to have Medicaid benefits throughout this redetermination process.

If your child/children no longer qualify for Medicaid

You’ll have a limited amount of time to act to get other health coverage before your Special Enrollment Period ends. You should quickly see if you are eligible for financial assistance from the government by visiting healthcare.gov.
