The Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Breast Care Center is a comprehensive breast program dedicated to providing compassionate expert care. Opened in 1994, it was originally known as the Kira Skidmore Breast Care Center. In July 2011, it was renamed the Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Breast Care Center. In addition, our radiology department became an accredited Breast Imaging Center of Excellence through the American College of Radiology in 2012.

At our Breast Care Center, when a patient is diagnosed with breast cancer he/she moves into a comprehensive care process. The educational process starts with meeting our Breast Care Navigator. An informational video is shown to learn about breast cancer and the treatment options. Family members or friends are welcome to participate during this information session. The Breast Care Navigator is a point person and resource throughout the entire process to provide resources and facilitate a seamless experience. Available to offer resources, education and support, she follows their care from time of diagnosis through survivorship.

Our patients have access to genetics, behavioral medicine and health education resources. The Breast Care Center also has a Physician Assistant, who manages the high-risk clinic. Patients with genetic susceptibility to breast cancer, biopsy-driven increased risk, significant family history or other concerns are evaluated in the clinic as part of their enhanced screening program.

All breast cancer patients are presented at our multi-disciplinary tumor board meetings held twice a month. Our mission is to provide all patients with personalized, evidence-based cancer treatment based on guidelines set by the National  Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). A select number of patients are seen in our multi-disciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their family members. When seen in the Clinic, the patient is consulted individually with a team of specialists from Surgery, Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Plastic Surgery. The outcome of the Clinic consult is to develop an individualized treatment plan for the patient.
