Nursing in the Clinics
When you come for an office visit with your doctor, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner, you will very likely meet a clinic nurse. The clinic nurses are involved in a wide variety of important functions from performing allergy testing to assisting in office procedures such as D&Cs and colonoscopies.
What is a Nurse Practitioner (NP)?
NPs are advanced practice nurses who provide high-quality health care services similar to those of a doctor. NPs have graduate education and clinical training beyond their registered nurse preparation. Most have master’s degrees and many have doctorates.
NPs diagnose and treat a range of health problems. They order laboratory and other diagnostic tests and prescribe medications. They provide health care education, counseling, and supportive care to individuals and families.
