The Georgia Food Stamp program, Georgia’s name for the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), provides food benefits, access to a healthy diet, and education on food preparation and nutrition to low-income Georgia households. Georgia Food Stamps recipients receive a card that is used like an ATM card to buy eligible food in authorized retail food stores. A household may be one person living alone, a family, or several unrelated individuals living together who routinely purchase and prepare meals together. If you are finding it difficult to afford to feed yourself or your family, Georgia Food Stamps may be able to help.

The Georgia Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program provides cash assistance to eligible low-income Georgia families with children. The program is designed to help needy families achieve self-sufficiency. This immediate short-term help may be used for housing, food, utilities, clothing, or medical care.
